Birdwatching PDF Print E-mail

"Rancho Suamox is half an hour from Mindo, where one finds one of the greatest concentrations of birds in Ecuador, and 2 km from the Simon Bolivar Observatory, identified as point 30 by Robert S. Ridgely and Paul J Greenfield in the book /Birds of Ecuador/. On the Farm you will be able to watch more than 160 of the 293 species listed in the IBA EC040 block of the Caoni River Area (Bioma of Choco Low Forest). This has been registered by the field work done by Birds & Conservation Local Support Group of Pedro Vicente Maldonado (2007-2008), the register of Birds & Conservation, and the references of IBAS of Ecuador Directory, Arcos and Solano (2005), Faygal (2003) Williams /et al/. (1997), and the register of Rancho Suamox (To downnload file).

Bird lovers and serious ornithologists can take advantage of the great number of species attracted  to insects drawn by the farm lights early in the mornings, and by the fruit growing in profusion around the farmstead itself, or increase their sightings on the wonderful trails crossing the farm.
